Diane Mitchels

Diane Mitchels, 62, Ogden, Iowa

OGDEN, Iowa—Diane Lee Mitchels, 62, of Ogden, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, after complications from surgery.

She was born on February 11, 1964, to Marilyn Roberta (Pearson) Ryan in Boone County.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Mitchels of Ogden; four sons, Justin Watts, Nick (fiancée Carrie Brown) Watts, Max Watts, and Adam Watts, all of Boone; sister, Tammy Watts of Boone; mother, Marilyn Ryan of Ogden; two nieces, Tara Murry of Boone and Cassie Smith of Lake City; nephew, Mason Hodges of Boone; and six great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding Diane in death were her maternal grandparents, Oscar and Viola Pearson; and several aunts and uncles.

Diane loved motorcycle rides, camping, baking, and spending time with family and friends. One of her main joys was sitting around the campfire in the backyard. She was in charge of starting the fire and had her own fire poker.

She was employed by Casey’s, where she spent twenty years at Boone and Ogden, both as an employee and manager. Previously, she worked at the Woodward State Hospital and Hilltop Greenhouse in Ogden.

A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Augustana Lutheran Church, 309 South Greene Street, Boone, with Pastor Mark Kvale officiating. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon will be served.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Boone Memorial Gardens.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Diane’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
