
The Madrid boys’ track and field team won three events and finished second overall with 75 team points Monday, May 11, at the Adair‑Casey/Guthrie Center Invitational.
Treynor claimed the team title with 126 points.
The Tigers were especially strong in distance events, highlighted by Cavin Pehl, who captured the 3200-meter run title in a time of 11:14.19.
The Tigers also captured first place in the 4×800-meter relay, as Henry Hudnall, Caden Berberich, Kaleb Petersen and Hudson White combined for a winning time of 8:36.07.
Hudson White finished second in the 1600-meter run (5:02.04).
Madrid also dominated the throws thanks to Jevyn Severson, who won the discus with a throw of 152-05 and followed it up with a second-place finish in the shot put (53-06).
Individual events
Tyler Sonnenfelt placed fourth in the 100-meter dash (11.59).
Will Atkinson finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.53).
Brady Springer placed sixth in the long jump with his jump of 17-10.00.
Relay events
Madrid’s 4×100-meter relay of Kinnick Grimm, Loken Velky, Jake Sawyer and Sonnenfelt placed third (44.38).
The Tigers also placed third in the 4×110 shuttle hurdle relay (1:02.97) with Grimm, Chase Perkins, Sawyer and Atkinson.
The 4×200-meter relay of Mason Morman, Perkins, Kole Deppe and Easton Halverson finished fifth in 1:38.50.
The sprint medley relay of Morman, Velky, Springer and Halverson also finished fifth in 1:44.77.

The girls and boys will compete at the Class 1A, Region 4, State Qualifying Meet Thursday, May 14, at Colfax-Mingo High School.
Schools in the region include Ackley-Geneva/Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock, Ankeny Chrisitan, Baxter, Colfax-Mingo, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-Nesco, East Marshall, Empigo, Joshua Christian Academy, Madrid, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, Melcher-Dallas, Montezuma, Fort Dodge St. Edmond and Woodward Academy.
