MADRID, Iowa—The Madrid Police Department has released information on the departments activities for the week from 6/1 thru 6/7.

06/01/26

Officer did monthly siren testing and found that all four of the city’s emergency sirens, were working properly. 

Officer fingerprinted (3) subjects, for a job-related background checks, with a local daycare facility.  

Officer met with a Madrid resident who felt she was being harassed on the bike trail out by the Reddish addition. She advised while heading towards the bike trail, two motorcyclists followed her towards the trail and were revving up their engines. They did not say anything to the female and did not touch her. Female did not recognize the suspects and could not describe the motorcycles. Female was advised there was nothing illegal about the interaction and if possible next time to call 911 so Officers could at least identify the motorcyclists.

Officer assisted with a medical call in the 800 block of East North Street.

06/02/26

Officer made contact with a vehicle stopped on Highway 210 at State Street.  Officer made contact with the Amazon delivery driver and attempted to inform her that she was on a US Highway and could not stop on the traveled portion and block traffic.  Due to a language barrier, the officer finally got the point across that she needed to pull around the corner if she wanted to park.  

Officer met with a Madrid resident and signed off on a DNR registration, after inspecting a dirt bike.

Officer took a report of a stolen blue pick-up box trailer, in the 900 block of South Kennedy Avenue.  Officer contacted a neighbor to check on video evidence of the crime. 

Officer was called about a racoon that was doing damage to a building in the 400 block of Fairview.  Officer dropped off a live trap so that the animal could be trapped and relocated to the river.

Officer received a call about a dog running and barking in the 500 block of West 1st Street.  The property owner stated that the dog was aggressive.  Officer contacted the owner who sent a family member to catch the dog.

Officer spoke to a subject about a stolen vehicle.  It was found that the subject was calling from Madrid, Oregon.  Officer informed him to call that police department for a report.

Officer received a call from a concerned resident regarding some dogs in her neighborhood, she felt their enclosure was too small. Officer checked the residence in question and found the dogs to be happy well-fed dogs; they also had an enclosed area to stay out of the heat.

Officer received a call about a Racoon near Hwy 17 and 22nd St, Officer was unable to locate said Raccoon.

Officer received a call from Boone County dispatch, they advised they had been notified by 988 and mental health help line that there was a person said they were going to take all their lithium pills and purposely end their life. Only information available was it was a person was in Madrid and their area code was 50156. Did not receive any other calls regarding this matter.

06/03/26

Officer met with a Madrid resident, who turned in a lost/found wallet.  The wallet had a good amount of cash inside of it.  Officer will get it back to the owner.  Thanks to Randy Dalton for finding this and turning it into the Police Department.

Officer received a call of an animal in a livetrap that was caught overnight.  Animal was released, unharmed.

Officer received a call from a Madrid resident, who wanted three family members, given a trespass warning for her residence, due to on-going issues with them.   

Officer checked the area around 2nd and Main Street for a potential runaway juvenile, per a nearby agency, but was unable to locate the female.

Officer was asked via phone to check on the welfare of a male’s elderly parents. Officer made contact with the parents and advised the caller that they would be in touch with him the following day.

 Officer was dispatched to the High Trestle Trail bridge area for a male holding down a female who had been having suicidal ideations and was trying to get onto the bridge. Officer drove squad car along the trail between the east parking lot on the Madrid side, and the entrance to the bridge. There, the officer observed the female being restrained by multiple individuals. Office took over physical and verbal contact with the female and sat her down on the grass to help her catch her breath. Due to the nature of the call and details regarding previous recent incidents, medics were called to evaluate the female, thereby transporting her to the hospital for further evaluation.

06/04/26

Officer responded to the 400 block of Newton Road, and assisted Boone County Ambulance with a medical issue.

Officer responded to the area of 5th and Walnut on a suspicious white Jeep whose occupants were going around the neighborhood knocking on doors. Prior to officers’ arrival, the vehicle left the area.

06/05/26

Officer took a report of a suspicious person in the 200 block of East 9th Street.  After some investigation it was determined that the subject is a process server trying to serve court paperwork.

Officer stopped and spoke with the occupants of a vehicle that was stopped in the roadway. It was determined that the elderly couple from out of town were lost due to the road closure West of town. Officer gave them a police escort to the high trestle trail parking lot.

Officer returned a call to a DHS worker reference a sexual assault that occurred over ten years ago at a Madrid residence. Investigation ongoing.

Officer took a report of identity theft.

Officer made contact with a subject called in for acting unusual. The out-of-town subject was homeless and trying to find their way to Woodward on foot. Officer pointed them to the trail.

Officer was dispatched to the 600 block of West 1st Street, for an ongoing argument about property lines, Officer advised them to wait for the proper authority to determine who is on who’s property, the landowners have been arguing with each other, they were advised to not do anything that could get either of them in trouble with the law.

06/06/26

Officer assisted with a medical call on West 1st Street.

Officer was dispatched to the 200 block of North State Street. Upon arrival the homeowner advised someone had kicked open his door then ran off. The homeowner advised he did not see anyone and could not give a description. The juvenile in the house advised it was a tall male wearing all black clothing and he saw him run from their home Eastbound. This is an ongoing investigation.  

06/07/26

Officer responded to a verbal domestic on North Water Street.

Officer responded to a report of a suspicious person at Dollar General. The subject was later located at Git N Go. She was assisted with a ride to her residence in Woodward.

Officer responded back to the residence on North Water Street, for a domestic dispute. It was determined that no one had injuries that weren’t caused by their own doing. One subject left the residence with a family member, to defuse the situation.

Officer responded to a residence for a suicidal subject. Officer stood by until mobile crisis workers got on scene and felt comfortable.

Officer received a phone call reporting loud music coming from the East North Street area. Officer was unable to locate any loud music or bass coming from the area. Officer believes they shut off the music once in the area.

Officer preformed several traffic stops for speed throughout the city.
