BOONE, Iowa)—Dennis Ray DeVoogd, 65, of Boone, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

A celebration of his life will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Cornerstone Alliance Church, located at 111 Sixth Street in Boone, with Pastor Brad Burkhart officiating. Following the service, the family warmly invites everyone to join them for a luncheon to share cherished memories in honor of Dennis.

Born on September 24, 1959, in Boone, Iowa, Dennis was the son of George and Velma Marie (Rardin) DeVoogd. He graduated from Boone High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army on March 1, 1977, where he served as a legal clerk for six years.

On February 10, 2010, he married Cindy Fisher at the Boone County Courthouse. Dennis had a passion for basketball, particularly enjoying the excitement of March Madness. He also loved rebuilding computers, cooking, and cheering on his belove Iowa Hawkeyes and the Mets. His hobbies included bowling, playing pool, foosball, and cribbage, as well as skiing in Minnesota. A devoted family man, Dennis cherished spending time with his children, nieces, and nephews.

The holidays held a special place in his heart, and he delighted in decorating and making memories with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Velma Marie (Rardin) DeVoogd; his grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Krauth.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 14 years, Cindy DeVoogd (Fisher); step-son, Kacey Miller of Boone; step-daughter, Jessica (Moorman) Meeks of Pilot Mound; four loving sisters, Debra Krauth (Krull-DeVoogd) of Boone (daughter Jessica Schmitz and husband Chris), Denice Emmick (DeVoogd) and husband Raye of Jefferson (son Justin Emmick and wife Arial), Diana Wulf (DeVoogd) and husband Cary of Boone (son Joseph Wulf and significant other Jamie McDonald, daughters Megan Wulf and significant-other Nathan Allen, Crystal Wulf and significant-other Andreu Wiltse), and Danette Honkomp (DeVoogd) of Boone (daughters Nicole White and husband Dustin, Natasha Honkomp, and son Nicholas Honkomp and significant-other Lillie Smith). He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews.
