
BOONE, Iowa—Boone County Attorney Matt Speers office releases a summary of cases handled by his office. This week cases included guilty pleas for Enticing a Minor, a Class D Felony.
COURT SUMMARIES
4-20-25 – 5-1-26
– Matthew Clay West, 26, Ames, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea to Enticing a Minor, a Class D Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years in prison, plus a 10 year Sex Offender Registry requirement upon release. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
– Devyn Lee Nigh, 28, Boone, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea to Enticing a Minor, a Class D Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years in prison, plus a 10 year Sex Offender Registry requirement upon release. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
– Syler Edward Allen, 27, Ames, had a previously granted probation revoked by the District Court following a stipulation to having violated the terms of his probation. The defendant was sentenced to the original 5 year prison term.
– Sean Gabriel Shickell, 36, Ames, appeared in Magistrate Court for a jury trial on the charge of Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. Following trial, the jury returned a verdict of guilty. Sentencing will be set at a later date at which time defendant faces up to 30 days in jail. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
– Ryan Lee Schulte, 35, Harper, was sentenced by the District Court following a guilty plea to Forgery, a Class D Felony. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years in prison plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
– Jarius Raymont McClendon, 28, Des Moines, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to 14 days jail, completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
– Liam Paul Wright, 23, Boone, was granted a deferred judgment by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor. On the deferred, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a batterers education course, substance abuse valuation with follow through of treatment, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
– Joel Wrex Wilson, 36, Boone, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to OWI 1st, a Serious Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced 2 days in jail, completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, a drinking drivers course, plus payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
– Zachary Joel Miller, 26, Pleasant Hill, was sentenced by the District Associate Court following a guilty plea to Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. The defendant was sentenced to payment of a fine and fees. The case was investigated by the Boone Police Department.
