DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service Office in Des Moines has updated expectations concerning severe storms and heat. The strongest storms are expected over northern Iowa. Heat will impact much of the state. Storms are occurring this morning and again this afternoon and evening (this is the stronger round of storms). Heat will peak this afternoon when a heat advisory is in effect.
